NYX Butt Naked Eyes palette, looks

I scored a NYX Butt Naked Eyes palette on Hautelook for real cheap. link to Hautelook

Butt Naked Eyes Palette on NYX site

Here are a couple of eye looks made with the palette.

The one above is done with some browns and pinks with grey shimmer for eyeliner. I used the yellow neutral color to blend near brow bone, highlighted with matte pink mixed with white pearl. I used the Bare Minerals mascara on upper lashes only.

This one is mostly the taupe grey shades with the same colors used as liner. I drew in a black pencil all along top and bottom waterline. I have Tarte Lights Camera Lashes on upper and lower lashes.

The colors seem to blend well, the shimmer colors are much easier to work with. The matte colors tend to be sheerer and hard to blend. I used the matte brown on the brow to shade it a bit and fill in sparse areas. I also mixed the pearl white and matte pink for a highlight placed just under brow.

The palette does have face colors as well. Blushes galore and a bronzer and two highlighters. They are powdery but wear well.

I wore these looks all day without them fading. I used an eyeshadow base under the colors from Lime Crime and a makeup finishing spray from Urban Decay over the look to lock it in.

As you can see, these colors are very neutral, they just add a bit of something to your look without going all heavy handed. So, if you are looking for a good yet inexpensive face palette I'd suggest getting this. It's very beautiful and the look doesn't fade like other cheap makeup brands.

Sephora Haul

I have used the latest promo code to buy a couple of things from Sephora's website. CHICBI

I have purchased the brand new Too Faced Better Than False Lashes mascara duo that is supposed to build and lengthen your lashes with fibers. You first apply a layer of the mascara, then apply a layer of the fibers, Then apply ANOTHER coat of mascara. I saw a YouTube video on this one by Thatgirlshaexo and this stuff looks AMAZING. I can't wait to receive it.

I am also going to try a Soap and Glory Scrub Em & Leave Em Body Buff. I decided to try a sea salt scrub instead of their original salt/sugar type scrub with the smaller chunks in it, Flake Away Body Polish. The one I ordered has large salt pieces in it.  If you have ever tried Lush's Ocean Salt scrub for your face and body, it's the best.. I want to find something for my body and hoard my Lush product just for my face.. It's $35 for 8 oz so I can't justify using it up so fast. The Soap and Glory scrub is only $18 for a 10 oz tub. I also decided to try a travel size Bumble & Bumble hair detangler. It's the spray called Prep. In a 2 oz spray bottle, $6. Everyone raves about Bumble & Bumble, my first one.. We'll see.
Here's the link: bumble&bumble prep

I'll keep you posted after I try these products!

Gel polish nails at home

I did buy the start up items to do gel nails at home. The brand I have is called Red Carpet Manicure. I have some of their colors, I also have colors from ProGel. I like them both a lot.

I did my own gel polish with a wonderful fluorescent color from ProGel. It's called "Electric Pink". I got this one at Ulta for $14.50. I did use the other items from my Red Carpet Manicure brand and these two brands are very compatible. The nails are much more vibrant than any photo will show..

They are just beautiful!

Steps:
1. Shape and buff nails, I used a 240 grit to dull the texture of my nail plate, it holds the gels on very well without damaging my nails. I also buff off my cuticles, if I push back my cuticles they peel and hurt for many days after, so this sanding method works much better for me.
2. Clean nails with Purify, gets germs off so as not to trap them in the gel.
3. Top with Prep, dehydrates nail so no water is left from cleaning.
4. Paint on thin, thin layer of Structure(base coat), do not get on skin. If it gets on it, wipe with orangestick to clean up before curing. Cure base coat for 1 minute.
5. Paint a very thin layer of polish color, cure for 2 minutes. Repeat 1 or 2 times. Depending on the color, I use 2 or 3 coats of the color curing each coat.
6. Paint on a very thin layer of Brilliance (top coat) making sure it is perfectly applied, this will be the finished look of your nail. Cure this step 2 minutes.
7. Gently take a lint-free paper towel soaked with a bit of the Purify and rub per the surface of your newly top coated nails, this will remove a tacky layer on the nails and give high shine.

This procedure takes me about 45 minutes with 3 color coats.

I might try to photograph my next round as I go to show you the steps taken.. We'll see if I can remember to do that.

Ulta Haul

Just this week, I scored a couple of the Ulta Deals of the Day. It's called the "Beauty Steal". They do these types of sales two times a year for the 21 Days Of Beauty. There is a different steal each day, while quantities last.

I am really enjoying the new formulation of the Hydroxatone for face SPF 15. The Hydroxatone items were 20% off several days ago. I did pick up the new face cream again. It's the only product I see results from for deeper wrinkles around the mouth. The formulation is a lot softer, easier to spread. So, I think I am able to use less. Which will save me $$ in the long run since this stuff is $80 for a 1 oz. jar. If it works it's worth it, right?

The other day I got two Stila Smudgesticks, they are the twist up waterproof eye liners. They were on sale for buy 1 get 1 free. Both are in Stingray. That is the inky black color. I like these because they are very long wear, but the don't irritate my eyes like some other waterproof pencils. Tarte is notorious for giving me red, painful eyes. I hate that! I think the Stila pencil is best for looks that need to stay.. It's not as good as waterproof liquid, but if you need a softer look with holding power I like these pencils.

I also picked up a HUGE can of my favorite hairspray. It's called Kenra Volume Spray. The can is Ginormous (16 oz.), it cost me $22 bucks, but it's sooo worth it. If you spray it in layers through your hair, then finish your style with it, you'll get all-day hold. It's amazing.

Today, I went in and got a couple Bare Minerals mascaras. They were 50% off, $9, they are normally $18. The ones I picked up are the Flawless Definition, one in original and one in waterproof. I've had both before. I like the original a lot better but like to have the waterproof on hand. I think the waterproof ones dry out more quickly so I have to replace them more often. If you have not tried the Flawless Definition (not the volumizing one), if you want beautiful, combed through lashes, this is the one for you. I have never had a mascara look so smooth and defined on my lashes. It's quite amazing. I recommend this to anyone looking for this kind of look. I have turned many of my brides onto the waterproof version. They all seem to love it.

Here's a pic of the awesome brush on the mascara. You gotta see it!

I don't live that far from my local Ulta so I am able to stop in at my leisure to pick up all of these items. Otherwise, I think I'd be more mindful of constantly going in there, LOL. Well, I guess I'll call this one.. I have an early meeting in the am. Any questions or comments? Just leave them below and I'll get back to you.

Back to the start

It seems as though my last blog has been locked out. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to change the password so I have given up on it. I guess it does not matter. I can still read it, just not change the info on it. I can continue here...
